FOR RESTORING GLASS EFFECT ON WINDOWS 11

Hi all, it's been a while. I finally remembered how to log into my account :)

I recently discovered an app called DWMBlurGlass. It looks to be an app which replaces the broken glass effect in Windows 11 and offers different options such as Windows 10-style blur, Windows 7, and even Windows 11 acrylic and mica effects.

The app doesn't work with Open-Shell installed with default settings, but if you enable an option titled "Override AccentBlur effect" it works flawlessly. I haven't run into any compatibility issues yet.

Another note, you might need to download the symbol files on the "symbol" page in order for the program to run correctly as I did.

Another cool trick is that it actually replaces the mica effect in some apps such as File explorer and the default Win11 desktop.

Hi bonzibudd. Juniper7 here.
Yeah. I read about that app months ago, but I never tried it yet.
Still using Win 10 on most of my machines.
I have 2 with Win 11, but I don't use them much yet. I'm waiting for Win 10's end-of-life.

Do you think Microsoft will shut down the symbol servers at some point?

I doubt they will but it's possible, similar to how ExplorerPatcher is now tagged as a virus if you try to download it. It's a shame that they think its necessary to artificially block people from making adjustments to their system.

I think I remember you said you were holding out on Win10, I was looking at your post on Win7Like and the fact that Open-Shell's placeholder transparency has some wackiness.

I decided to download the app to make sure the symbols get stored on my drive.
I copied over your "Advanced" settings.
I had to set the blur radius to 2 on the "General" settings page, so it just blurs the text like in Windows 7.
That setting does interfere with the "Advanced" Blur radius setting though.

Yay, Start menu has blur on Win 11.
