Cosmic Firewall is an open research hypothesis about why the universal speed limit c is finite.
The central claim is not that the numerical value of c has already been derived. The claim is narrower and more careful: a coherent causal universe with finite information capacity and finite quantum update rates requires a finite synchronization factor between spatial and temporal structure. In our universe, that factor is observed as the invariant speed c.
This repository contains the public baseline, formalization route, review structure, and issue-tracked roadmap for turning that idea from a conceptual framework into a testable theoretical model.
Working hypothesis. Open. Falsifiable in intent. Not a completed derivation.
The project currently argues for the necessity of a finite causal synchronization bound. The exact numerical value of c, the full emergence of Lorentz invariance, and a rigorous quantum measurement model remain open research targets.
Modern physics treats c as the invariant speed that structures light cones, causality, relativistic time dilation, and the relation between space and time.
Cosmic Firewall asks a deeper systems question:
What must be true about reality for any coherent sequence of events to exist at all?
The proposed answer is that reality cannot process, synchronize, and decohere physical information at an infinite rate. A finite universe needs finite information density, finite update speed, and ordered causal propagation. The Cosmic Firewall is the hypothesized physical constraint that prevents causal order from collapsing into simultaneous, unordered possibility.

The framework currently claims:
- bounded physical regions cannot encode infinite information;
- quantum systems cannot perform distinguishable state transitions at infinite speed;
- coherent causal order requires a finite relation between spatial separation and temporal update;
ccan be interpreted as the observed synchronization factor that enforces this relation.
The framework does not yet claim:
- a non-circular derivation of the exact numerical value of
c; - a complete replacement for special relativity or general relativity;
- a finished model of quantum measurement or decoherence;
- experimental confirmation;
- dependence on consciousness, theology, or speculative extensions.
Speculative implications are allowed in the project, but they must remain clearly separated from the core physics claim.

Strong contributions are specific, technical, and bounded.

- show that a claim is already ruled out by known constraints;
- propose a dimensionally coherent replacement inequality;
- add primary literature;
- separate a useful analogy from an unsupported mechanism.
