QueueX

Production-grade distributed task queue and monitoring platform built with FastAPI, Celery, Redis, PostgreSQL, and React.

QueueX is an open-source asynchronous job processing platform designed to demonstrate production backend engineering concepts such as distributed workers, reliable task execution, retries, scheduling, real-time monitoring, and fault recovery.

Instead of executing long-running operations inside the request-response cycle, QueueX offloads work to background workers, enabling applications to remain responsive while processing jobs asynchronously.

Why QueueX?

Modern applications frequently execute operations that take seconds or minutes to complete:

  • AI inference
  • Audio transcription
  • Image processing
  • Email delivery
  • Report generation
  • Data import/export
  • File compression

Executing these tasks synchronously increases latency and limits scalability.

QueueX solves this problem by providing a reliable distributed background processing system.

Features

  • Asynchronous job processing
  • FIFO scheduling
  • Priority queues
  • Delayed jobs
  • Scheduled execution
  • Retry queues
  • Dead Letter Queue (DLQ)

Worker Engine

  • Distributed workers
  • Lease-based job reservation
  • Worker heartbeats
  • Graceful shutdown
  • Automatic failure recovery
  • Horizontal scaling
