Motivation

  • Freeform tool preview handling reparsed the entire accumulated argument buffer on every streamed chunk, creating quadratic CPU and allocation work for many small chunks and enabling an availability DoS against the local proxy.

Description

  • Replace full-buffer reparse with an incremental stateful preview decoder that tracks previewMode, prefix data, escape state, and pending \uXXXX digits per open tool call and decodes only newly arrived characters.
  • Preserve behavior for the three preview modes (prefix → wrapped → raw) and continue to emit response.custom_tool_call_input.delta for decoded input without rewinding on mode flips.
  • Remove the previous full-buffer freeformPartialInput reparsing path and add a focused regression test that streams a 32,000-character freeform input one byte at a time to verify incremental decoding.

Testing

  • Ran bun run typecheck and it passed with no type errors.
  • Ran bun test tests/bridge.test.ts and the focused bridge suite passed, including the new large one-byte-stream regression (56 tests total passed).
  • Ran bun run privacy:scan and it passed.
  • Attempted a full bun run test run but earlier runs of the full suite experienced unrelated management/OAuth test timeouts and failures, so the full repository-wide suite was not relied on to validate this focused fix.

Warning

Review limit reached

@luvs01, you've reached your PR review limit, so we couldn't start this review.

Next review available in: 26 minutes

Enable usage-based reviews in Billing to review now. Otherwise, wait until the next included review is available.
You're only billed for reviews past your plan's rate limits ($0.25/file).

How can I continue?

After more reviews become available, a review can be triggered using the @coderabbitai review command as a PR comment. Alternatively, push new commits to this PR.

To avoid repeated limits, reduce automatic review volume by pausing incremental auto-reviews earlier, using label-based review opt-in, excluding WIP or generated PR titles, or requesting reviews manually when the PR is ready. If your team needs uninterrupted high-volume reviews, an organization admin can enable usage-based reviews.

How do review limits work?

CodeRabbit enforces per-developer PR review limits for each organization. Most developers receive the normal plan review availability.

For paid Pro and Pro+ PR reviews, CodeRabbit uses adaptive limits for sustained high-volume activity. When a developer's recent PR review activity reaches the 95th percentile or higher among CodeRabbit users, additional reviews become available more gradually as earlier reviews age out of the rolling window.

Please refer docs for additional details.
