- use canonical PEP 440 spelling for the version (3.1.2.dev0) - changelog: open 3.1.2, date the published 3.0.0 entry, note that 3.1.0/3.1.1 were never released - pypi workflow: only publish from v* tags so the `stable` docs pointer can no longer trigger a release, require the tag to match setup.py's version, and require final (non-prerelease) tags to point at a commit on master - pypi workflow: build with `python -m build` instead of the deprecated `setup.py sdist bdist_wheel` Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
- release tags are bare version numbers; a `v` prefix is no longer valid and is now rejected with an explicit error rather than silently ignored - add RELEASING.md documenting the preview/master flow, the two release channels, hotfixes, and the failure modes CI guards against Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
