I am a computer scientist who loves to combine my love for coding with my passion for hardware. For as long as I can remember, I have always been someone who enjoys taking things apart to see what is inside of them. At first, I primarily destroyed most things I touched. However, after much trial and error, I began to not just take things apart, but also repair them. This opened the gates of curiosity for me. From that point on, I have had an underlying urge to discover the inner workings of the things that I do not understand.
My High School teacher, Mr. J, picked up on my desire to learn more and provided me with an opportunity to work as a computer lab assistant. Within that position, I learned many things about computer peripherals, software installations and product keys, networking configurations, and password security. After completing High School, I went on to work a multitude of roles in an attempt to discover what I enjoyed most. Despite not having worked within a role that utilizes computer science or coding, I found myself programming for a hobby. Eventually, I had matured into a role at a company, Glassical Designs, which pushed me to sharpen my technical skills and get hands on with hardware. That experience, combined with my hobby of programming, showed me that I wanted to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science.
Once I had my eyes set on a Computer Science Degree, I enrolled at Pikes Peak State College and started working as a Junior IT technician. My time at Pikes Peak State College was primarily focused on learning the fundamentals of programming, specifically Python. In addition, my role as a Junior IT technician provided an opportunity to contribute to a large scale Window 11 migration project. During that project, I was able to assist in hardware upgrades like RAM and HDD to SSD.
After spending two years at Pikes Peak State College, I transferred to Concordia St. Paul to finish out my Bachelor of Science. Having been told that computer science was born out of mathematics, I choose to minor in mathematics to better understand the workings of computer science. Along with my studies, I served as the Computer Science Club President, tutored computer science courses, and worked as a Technical Aide at 3M.
